Day 3 – National Novel Writing Month

Today has felt non stop but finally, after eating dinner, I was able to sit down and get some writing in for the challenge.

I finished one of the chapters, tacking on another 1,956. It gives me the grand total of 8,500. Not bad for the first three days, however I feel like I want to be writing more. I am making time for it when I can and I’m doing better than I did prior to taking on this challenge. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll reach the 50,000 words and that I’ll finish the manuscript. What seems to be pressing lately is that I feel like I should be writing more each day. Maybe I’m just thinking I should be pushing myself harder because I’m doing this challenge. Maybe it’s because I’m a bit anxious at getting the whole thing done and feeling accomplished at completing it. And maybe it’s because I can take some personal challenges a bit too far and want things done faster than it’s actually capable of going. It’s probably all three.

Anyway, I’m making good progress and I am feeling good about the whole thing. I actually ordered one of their t-shirts online. I’m looking forward to getting it in the mail, although it’ll probably be a while.

Hope everyone is doing well and getting that writing in!

About rachelsparling

I'm a writer working on a manuscript for a novel. I love to write and I've been doing it for 17 years. Through several story ideas I have figured out what works and what doesn't, and I've learned a lot about myself and my writing style. I love to read and escape to many different worlds. I've also learned a lot about good writing and bad writing through both reading a lot and acquiring an education in English literature, and becoming an ESL teacher. I enjoy filming and photographing all sorts of things and putting together short documentaries and videos. I love my camera.
