Day 4 – National Novel Writing Month

Have you ever looked at a word and felt it was spelled incorrectly,  only to look it up and find out you actually did spell it properly? And you stare at it trying to figure out why you thought it was wrong, but can’t stop thinking that it is in fact spelled incorrectly?  That’s what I’m doing right now with the word “national”. I know it’s properly spelled, but for some reason it doesn’t look right.

Anyway, I did some writing today. It was so very hectic I wasn’t even sure I’d find time, but I changed my normal set up and did the writing instead of other things. It worked out well I guess because I’m officially over the 10,000 word mark! I have a total of 11,011! So that’s definitely good news.

On another note, I should have a bit of time to write tomorrow and get my word count up. My brother is coming along really well too and is close for the total number of words. We are doing well.

I also had a random idea while grocery shopping today. Well it wasn’t really random. I was thinking about a concept that my brother and I had been discussing based on a song lyric. It spurred something that I realized fit perfectly with part of the story that happens much later on. I had to quickly type it into my phone so I could insert it when I had time later. I have yet to put it in but it’s in my phone and will definitely become a big part of the larger story line. I am excited with where the whole thing is going.

Hope everyone is doing well and is still as motivated to get their word count up!

About rachelsparling

I'm a writer working on a manuscript for a novel. I love to write and I've been doing it for 17 years. Through several story ideas I have figured out what works and what doesn't, and I've learned a lot about myself and my writing style. I love to read and escape to many different worlds. I've also learned a lot about good writing and bad writing through both reading a lot and acquiring an education in English literature, and becoming an ESL teacher. I enjoy filming and photographing all sorts of things and putting together short documentaries and videos. I love my camera.
