Day 2 – National Novel Writing Month

As it stands, today is a busy day. So I stole away as much time as I could to get some writing in for the challenge.

I didn’t get as much done as I did my very first night writing. However, I did get some writing done later that day and then just now. So I had the initial 3,491, plus the 1,235 that I wrote later that day, and now to add to the total another 1,818. This gives me the grand total of 6,544! I am officially over my first 5,000 words!

What is great about these chapters I’m working on is that when I sit down, I suddenly feel like “oh I need to add this” and “I need to work this in”. My outline works well but there are so many extra details and expansion that I want to do. By this process my story is becoming longer and longer and so are the chapters. Of course it won’t be some massive book, but it will be longer than I initially wrote, which for me is a good thing!

If I get more writing done tonight and finish the chapter I started, I will update about it tomorrow after the writing for that day is done. For now though, I have to get back to other things that need to be accomplished before the day is out.

Hope everyone is doing well with the challenge!

About rachelsparling

I'm a writer working on a manuscript for a novel. I love to write and I've been doing it for 17 years. Through several story ideas I have figured out what works and what doesn't, and I've learned a lot about myself and my writing style. I love to read and escape to many different worlds. I've also learned a lot about good writing and bad writing through both reading a lot and acquiring an education in English literature, and becoming an ESL teacher. I enjoy filming and photographing all sorts of things and putting together short documentaries and videos. I love my camera.
