Day 2 – Editing Rough Draft

Onto the second/third day of editing.

I have completed another chapter. This is the third chapter in the first book and it is coming along, slowly but surely. There is a lot that I found wrong with it and I added a lot to it, but it still feels….incomplete. I’m not sure how yet. I know what I want it to be, what opportunities it allows for world building specifically, and I did add quite a bit to it, but it still feels like it’s missing something. Granted, this is only the first edit, and I’m sure as I go along, I will figure it out and come back to it and fix it all up. Somehow, it will come together.

Anyway, it went all right, but like I said, it still feels like it’s missing a few things. I’ll figure it out upon further revision and get it flowing better and including what it so desperately might need to feel more complete – at least to me.

I also hope that everyone had a wonderful time with the National Novel Writing Month. I’m sure most of you feel relief now that you’ve reached your goals, and now will realize just how much you have to go through and edit. I’m sure it won’t be nearly as bad as you think though.

About rachelsparling

I'm a writer working on a manuscript for a novel. I love to write and I've been doing it for 17 years. Through several story ideas I have figured out what works and what doesn't, and I've learned a lot about myself and my writing style. I love to read and escape to many different worlds. I've also learned a lot about good writing and bad writing through both reading a lot and acquiring an education in English literature, and becoming an ESL teacher. I enjoy filming and photographing all sorts of things and putting together short documentaries and videos. I love my camera.
