Day 32

It may be Father’s Day, but currently my dad is watching the baseball game, so I decided to slip away and get a bit of writing done.

Another chapter has been completed! It’s shorter than the others but it’s still just as necessary. It’s more about the details and what’s being seen which is part of the reason it’s a bit shorter. Either way, it went smoothly. There will be a note I’ll be adding for when I go over it again, but I think it came together well.

This will be a shorter post than usual because I should get back to doing things for Father’s Day. Lots to do, not much time.

Day 31

FINALLY had some time to read this week. It’s been a busy one and I didn’t seem to have time to sit down for an hour or so and get anything done. Either way, it’s been productive.

I finished another chapter. This one full of harsh truths and disturbing images. It will work well though for the overall purpose of the scene, and how it comes together through out the rest of the story. I’m very happy to see things coming together the way they are.

Hm, what else is there to say? Writing went well and smoothly. I got a lot done based on the chapter completion. It’s a bit longer than the other chapters which is good because it needed to be. The character has made a resolution at the end after seeing things for the way they are. It is a pivotal chapter that changes the direction of everything.

Hopefully I can get some more writing done this weekend. One can hope right? Hope everyone has a good one!

Day 30

I had a bit of time today so I quickly wrote out another chapter!

This is coming together much quicker than I thought it would. No complaints of course.

Anyway, this chapter is the set up for the main character to hear and see some pretty harsh truths. There is a lot that is about to happen, a lot of things that will likely disturb the reader but not in a way that I think will make them want to stop reading. If anything I think it’ll allow them to see the world in a different way. Maybe even see countries in a different way. Either way, it’s leading to some huge things plot wise.

I’m glad I got another chapter done. Alas, I must return to my other responsibilities.

Day 29

Another chapter written!

I wasn’t sure when I’d be able to write today but I managed to squeeze it in. The chapter, again, is longer than the others so that makes me happy. I managed to fit in a fair bit of description and information that’s relevant to the story and the world it all takes place in. So I’m happy with that.

So far I have 9 chapters written and still a lot more to go, but it’s progress! I think 9 chapters completed in the course of two and a half weeks is pretty good. A lot of really big things are about to happen so it’ll pick up quite a bit. I might be pushed to write even more, but I’m not making any guarantees with myself. I’m writing more at one time than I did with my previous manuscript and I’m making considerable progress.

Anyway, until the next one is complete!

Day 28

I ended up with having time to write. I finished another chapter too, which is just great. I’m quite happy with the progress. I know I’ve said that already but it’s true.

The chapter is longer than the others so that makes me feel more confident in the way things are coming together. I still have a lot more to write of course, but it’s coming together. The chapter is one where the character makes a signifiant realization and begins understanding more that is happening. It’s informative and also a bit magical as well. I’m quite happy with it. I’m sure I’ll have a lot to edit but it came together well. The writing itself was smooth and I think there’s good flow there.

Anyway, I’m done for now. I’m sure I’ll be posting again shortly. Maybe not tomorrow but soon.

Day 27

It was so gorgeous out today that I couldn’t resist heading outside and doing some writing. My laptop appears to be finally fixed, so I thought it’d be a good idea to try it outside. So far so good.

Anyway, I completed two chapters. They are short though so I’m contemplating making them one chapter instead. I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually. Either way, the writing went well. I was surprised after finishing one chapter that I still wanted to write and continue onto the next one. I just had such an urge to keep going and so I did. Now I’m feeling somewhat brain dead so I think some reading will help ease my mind and allow me to get a bit of energy back. I think I’m done writing for today though.

I hope everyone has wonderful plans for the weekend. It’s supposed to be great here weather wise, so hopefully it is for the rest of you.

Day 26

As it turns out I’m quite sick. I don’t know if I’ll get in as much writing as I did last week during this week, but I’m still going to try my best. Perhaps if I end up being bed ridden, I can bring my laptop in with me and maintain some solace at the idea that I could write if I needed/wanted to. However, I’m not betting anything.

Anyway, I wrote another chapter again. I am noticing that many of my chapters are turning out substantially shorter than I intended them to be and still want them to be. A lot of the earlier chapters are set ups for many things that happen later which will more than likely provide much longer chapters once I get there in the story. Still, I was hoping for chapters similar in length to my other manuscript. Oh well.

The chapter went well. A lot of it is internal struggle at this point so there isn’t a whole lot happening outside of the characters mind in this chapter. The mental struggle will go through the entire story but it will become more of a subplot than a forefront. Things get out of hand and a lot more actual physical struggles start cropping up. It will show the struggles for the characters in which they must over come and show their strength as well. They are not stupid but they are all very different in their rationalization of the world around them.

I won’t give much more away as I think I need a nap (though I won’t get it yet). Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Day 25

Despite waking up with a bad migraine, an upset stomach, and it taking a long time for me to feel remotely “okay” today, I got around to do some writing.

It was tough because I wasn’t sure I could look at a computer screen long enough before my head or stomach would start hurting and I’d need to throw up. Luckily, that didn’t happen. I wrote more than 2000 words in less than an hour. I have to admit, I’m quite content with my speed of writing lately. It’s been going more smoothly and more quickly than my previous manuscript had.

Anyway, I finished another chapter. It’s a short one given the word count but I’m okay with that. I’m really just happy I was able to stare at a computer screen! Okay enough of that. It was a good chapter, it introduced another obstacle for the main character and a strategy was inevitably formed in her mind. It’s coming together, slowly but surely. Not in a boring way. It’s still interesting. Hopefully. Ah well that’s what editing is for!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend and hope that you all enjoy the rest of it. It’s been beautiful weather here and I can’t wait to be capable of enjoying it.

Day 24

Another chapter written! Yay! I am feeling quite good about my progress.

The overall writing went well and there are some scenes I’m really happy with how they turned out. Some things will need rephrasing, but I’m not worried about that. Editing will take a while and that’s to be expected, but that’s for later, for now, it’s all about getting the rough draft done.

I have to admit I’m pleased with my ability to make time to get this done. Before I felt I needed to put a lot of time aside, and I still feel that weighing in on me from time to time, but I think I’m starting to find a good balance. I can get my work done, I can do my normal responsibilities, I can get my exercises in, and I can get some writing done. Needless to say, I’m feeing good about it so far.

This weekend will be a busier one but I’m still going to try to make time. Hopefully it won’t be too bad but I know Sunday will be a write off as I’ll be out of town for the entirety of it. It’s an overdue get away, even if it is just for a day.

Day 23

I managed to grab a bit of time to get some writing done. I think I might be able to get the hang of this assuming I’m okay with only working for half an hour to an hour at a time. This would give me anywhere from 1500-4000 words in a day, which I guess is pretty decent.

I finished the next chapter. It, like the last one, will probably need some decent editing, but it’s coming along. I think I more or less captured what I wanted to in this chapter, but there are some things in it I want to refine.

Anyway, this is a short one as I have to get back to my other work. I’m glad to get something done and I’m happy with the current progress of things.
